Groups & Activities
Something for everyone at the hall
The hall is home to a wonderful range of groups and activities, run by local volunteers for people of all ages. If you'd like your group listed here, get in touch.
Baby & Toddler Group
Tuesdays in term time, 9:30 – 11:30am
Running for more than 25 years, the hall fills every Tuesday morning with giggles, songs and trundling ride-ons. Children aged 0–5 (plus parents, grandparents, guardians and expectant mums) enjoy toys, books, craft activities, sensory play and a dedicated soft-floor baby area — with teas, coffees and snacks to keep the grown-ups happy too. Just drop in. £3 per family (plus £1 per additional child).
Craft Club
Second & fourth Tuesday evenings of the month
Twice a month the hall becomes a cosy, colourful hub of creativity. Crafters of all ages gather with knitting needles, crochet hooks, cross-stitch and more. Many bring their own projects; the club is also known for trying new techniques — Indian block printing, macramé, origami. Relaxed, sociable and welcoming. The club pauses over the summer but is always delighted to welcome new faces.

Gardening Club
Third Tuesday of the month, 7:45pm
For anyone who enjoys gardens, flowers, or simply a chat about what's blooming. No expertise needed — just enthusiasm. Annual membership £10 (which includes a 10% discount at Yarnton Nurseries), or £2 per session for non-members. All welcome.

Pilates with Zara
Wednesdays, 8pm
A warm, welcoming Mat Pilates class led by qualified instructor Zara — relaxed, judgement-free, and focused on real people rather than perfection. Build strength, improve posture, and feel good in your body. Whether you're a parent, a busy professional, or simply need an hour to breathe, you'll find a supportive community waiting. Just turn up.
Silver Threads
Second Wednesday of the month, 2:30pm
A friendly club for the over-60s, meeting in the Memorial Hall with speakers, trips and special events — including the Annual Harvest and Christmas Lunches, plus two or three day trips each year. Annual membership £10.

Tackley Local History Group
Monthly talks, plus summer fieldwork
With around 50 members and over 500 social-media followers, one of the village's most active clubs. The hall hosts seven visiting-speaker talks a year on prehistoric to modern Tackley. Behind the scenes, the group maintains an extraordinary archive — maps, memorabilia, recordings and more — open to anyone researching Tackley's past. Summer fieldwork led to the 2018 excavation of an important Roman villa; the mosaic floor is safely stored, awaiting community plans for display. £12 a year, or £5 a talk for guests.

Tackley School PTA
Events throughout the year
The school PTA uses the hall for many of Tackley's biggest and best-loved community events — school discos, cake sales, Christmas fairs and quiz nights. A lively partnership with the Pop-Up Pub has sparked joint evenings that bring neighbours together. Hall fundraising was instrumental in helping the PTA reach its ambitious £30,000 goal for a new outdoor classroom at the school.
Tackley WI
First Tuesday of the month, 7:30pm
A friendly group bringing together women from their 30s to their 90s for talks, craft evenings, outings and social events. A monthly coffee morning in a member's home, occasional lunches out and visits to places of interest round out the programme. Members support the Women's Refuges through Reducing the Risk of Domestic Abuse and knit poppies for the village Remembrance trellis. Visitors are welcomed for £5 (including refreshments). Several meetings are also open to men.
The Oxford School of Drama
Weekday mornings
For over ten years, the Oxford School of Drama has been an energetic part of life at the hall, providing students with a peaceful workspace and a chance to experience village life. Over the years, the hall has been the backdrop to many a student short film, shape-shifting from a hospital to an office to a Viking ship and back again. The students remain devoted fans of the Village Shop's famous sausage rolls.
